Xavier Horan: Tyson
Portraying Tyson in Naming Number Two marks Xavier Horan’s screen acting debut, and a successful one at that: he was nominated for a New Zealand Screen Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
Tyson is the family’s great success story, a handsome young man with an established career. He has moved out of Mt. Roskill into the city, and with this geographical separation has come an emotional disconnect from the rest of the family. While his cousins doubt his attachment to his birthplace, Tyson hopes to prove them wrong through the preparation for the feast.
“When I first read Naming Number Two I got goose-bumps, as the reflection of the story carries so much with it, love, and the love interest, laughs and action,” Horan recalls. “It’s a story that I really relate to growing up in South Auckland with my own Pacific Island family.”
