Naming Number Two

Tim White: Producer

A graduate of the University of Canterbury, School of Fine Arts, Mr. White established himself in Australia in the early 1980s. Since then his producer credits include Malcolm (AFI Best Film 1986); Spotswood starring Anthony Hopkins, Russell Crowe and Toni Collette; Angel Baby (AFI Best Film 1995); Death in Brunswick starring Sam Neill; Vincent Ward’s Map of the Human Heart and Gillian Armstrong’s Oscar & Lucinda starring Ralph Fiennes and Cate Blanchett.

In 1997 Mr. White became Chief Executive of Fox Icon, a joint venture between Twentieth Century Fox and Mel Gibson’s company Icon Productions. During this period he was Executive Producer on Gregor Jordan’s Two Hands (AFI Best Film 1999), starring Heath Ledger. From 2000 until 2004 Tim headed up Working Title Australia, a production and development company linked to UK’s Working Title Films. Under this banner Tim produced Gettin’ Square and executive produced Gregor Jordan’s Ned Kelly, starring Heath Ledger, Orlando Bloom and Naomi Watts.

Naming Number Two has been something of a homecoming for Tim – “It’s been tremendously rewarding to work on a story with such a generous spirit and it’s been a real privilege to develop a close personal and creative relationship with Toa Fraser. In many ways the risk of working with a ‘first timer’ makes for a more intense experience, but perhaps it is no coincidence that many of my more successful films have been directed by first time writer/directors”.
