Naming Number Two

Rene Naufahu: Erasmus

Rene describes his character in Naming Number Two: “Erasmus is the eldest grandson. He is a backbone in terms of the muscle behind what goes on every day in Nanna’s home.” Haunted by his own ghosts, Erasmus is the most reserved and perhaps the most complicated of the grandchildren. Rene’s brooding but gregarious portrayal of Erasmus earned him the New Zealand Screen Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

Rene’s acting career began in New Zealand’s long running TV series Shortland Street. Since then he has worked in both New Zealand and Australia in television and has had roles in many feature films including Code Red, The Legend of Johnny Lingo and the United States blockbusters The Matrix Revolutions and The Matrix Reloaded.

Rene has recently turned his focus to developing a career behind the camera and has just completed writing and directing the New Zealand television series The Market.
