Lydia Livingstone: Producer
Producer Lydia Livingstone was introduced to Toa Fraser at the 1999 Silo Theatre production of his play No.2. Lydia was struck by the universality of Mr. Fraser’s story and the gifted young writer’s ability to draw such highly developed and rich characters.
Her support for Mr. Fraser’s writing/directing debut led to the formation of their company Colonial Encounters to present a draft for development funding from the New Zealand Film Commission in 2001.
“The [New Zealand Film Commission] from that moment on showed tremendous support for the project and a first time director,” says Livingstone. Mr. Fraser’s work also garnered the enthusiasm of producers Tim White and Tim Bevan of Working Title – “we all know each other and have the commonality of New Zealand at heart” Livingstone says.
Lydia is based in Sydney Australia, with a twenty-year history in independent theatrical entertainment, music and fashion. She is currently working with Toa Fraser on a musical collaboration for the theatre.
